Wird NLRP1 aktiv, zeigt das künstliche Gewebe typische Merkmale von Psoriasis und bildet starke Entzündungsstoffe wie IL‑1 und IL‑36γ[4]. IL‑1 sorgt dafür, dass sich Oberhaut und Lederhaut gegenseitig anfeuern[4]. IL‑36γ verlässt die Hautzellen durch winzige Löcher in der Zellhülle[4]. In Schuppenflechte-Herden von Patienten fanden die Forschenden ebenfalls aktives NLRP1[4]. Auch eine besondere Form von Erbmaterial in den Zellen kann NLRP1 anwerfen[4]. Dieser Signalweg könnte ein neues Ziel für Therapien werden[4].
